Nine arrested during nocturnal raids in Pulwama village

Srinagar: At least nine persons were arrested by government forces on charges of stone throwing during nocturnal raids in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Reports said contingents of forces arrived in Marval village past midnight and arrested persons including Mehraj Aziz, Sameer, Aijaz, Mohammad Ramzan, Abdul Gani, Mohammad Ashraf Wagay and Owais Hassan.
Soon clashes erupted in the village, even as forces lobbed tear gas canisters to disperse the protestors.
The villagers alleged that forces have been frequently arresting people from the village and on some instances parents of ‘absconding’ persons as well.
